METI of Japan certifies effectiveness against COVID-19

METI of Japan announced
On May 29, 2020, the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) simultaneously announced that quaternary ammonium salts: benzalkonium chloride (already approved) and benzethonium chloride / dialkyldimethylammonium chloride (both added on May 28, 2020) have been added as surfactants effective against a new type of coronavirus. benzethonium chloride/dialkyldimethylammonium chloride (additionally approved on May 28, 2020).

GlossWell Type Anti-Viral : Special quaternary ammonium salt is used

The special anti-bacterial compound used in GlossWell #360 / #240 / #750 Type Anti-Viral is a special quaternary ammonium salt based on existing quaternary ammonium salts (benzalkonium chloride, benzethonium chloride, dialkyldimethylammonium chloride). Special quaternary ammonium salts are used.

Test data on various viruses using special quaternary ammonium salts

The following graph shows the status of the total number of viruses caused by the special quaternary ammonium salts in GlossWell #360 / #240 / #750 Type Anti-Viral. The vertical axis shows the number of viruses (as a power of 10), and the horizontal axis shows the passage of time (from 0 to 10 minutes). The test data shows that there was a change in the total number of viruses under test within a short period of time.

[ Viruses used in the test ]
◯ Graph A : Influenza virus = virus with envelope membrane / substitute for new coronavirus.
◯ Graph B : Feline calicivirus = Virus without envelope / substitute for norovirus.

[ Test Method ]
◯ 50 mm x 50 mm glass plate was coated with a special quaternary ammonium salt.
◯ The above two viruses were inoculated on the plate and left at room temperature.
◯ After 10 minutes of inoculation, the removal effect of each virus on the amount of infection was measured.

Graph A : Influenza viruses
◯ A1 / Amount of influenza viruses infected (total number) : 10∧8.3 (108.3) = about 200 million.
◯ A2 / After 10 minutes, the total number of infectious influenza viruses : 10∧4.5 (104.5) = about 32,000 : reduced to 1 / 6300.

Graph B : Feline calicivirus
◯ B1 / Amount of infected feline calicivirus (total number) : 10∧7.6 (107.6) = about 40 million.
◯ B2 / After 10 minutes, the total number of infected feline calicivirus : 10∧4.1 (104.1) = about 12,600 : reduced to 1 / 3200.

Test Results
◯ Graph A : After 10 minutes, the amount of influenza virus infection was reduced to about 1/6300 or less.
◯ Graph B: After 10 minutes, the amount of feline calicivirus infection was reduced to less than 1/3200.
